The Kalvarienberg is a way of the cross in the municipality of Deutschfeistritz in Styria . Its history goes back to the end of the 17th century.

location

The Kalvarienberg is located south of the Deutschfeistritzer parish church on the Kirchberg . It was erected there on artificially created terraces that were originally probably used for viticulture.

history

The Calvary was built in 1695. The group of crosses was restored in 1969.

The Kalvarienberg has three baroque station chapels with wrought iron bars . There is a figural group in each chapel.

The baroque Ölberg chapel was built into the mountainside and has a roof turret with an onion helmet and a lantern . A bell cast by Florentin Streckfuß in 1696 hangs in it. The interior is vaulted by a needle cap barrel. The figural group of crosses with angels comes from the end of the 17th century. Furthermore, inside the chapel there is a baroque mount of olives and a rococo tabernacle .

The baroque crucifixion group with larger than life figures dates from the period after 1714. The figures of Jesus crucified and the two thieves were made of wood, the figures of St. John and the two women were made of stone.
