Kame Island (from Japanese 亀 島 Kame-shima , German 'turtle island ' ; Norwegian Skjelpadda 'turtle' ; Russian Остров Дубинина Ostrow Dubinina , German 'Dubinininsel' ) is an island off the Prince Harald coast of the East Antarctic Queen Maud Land . It is located 6 km east of Cape Ryūgū .

Aerial photographs and measurements of a Japanese Antarctic expedition carried out from 1957 to 1962 were used to map them. Japanese scientists also made the naming. The Advisory Committee on Antarctic Names translated this into English in 1968. The Russian name is named after Alexander Josifowitsch Dubinin (1908–1963), captain of the research ship Ob from 1958 to 1961.
