The Cape Ryūgū ( Japanese 竜 宮 岬 Ryūgū-misaki , German 'Cape of the Undersea Dragon Palace ' ; Norwegian Ægehallneset 'Ægirhallennase' ) is a rocky cape on the Crown Prince Olav coast of the East Antarctic Queen Maud Land . It is located 11 km northeast of Rakuda Rock .
Aerial photographs and measurements by a Japanese Antarctic expedition (1957–1962), as a result of which the cape was named in 1963, were used to map it. The namesake of the Norwegian name is the hall of Ægir , the "giant of the sea" from Norse mythology.
