Kamila Gasiuk-Pihowicz (born May 8, 1983 in Warsaw ) is a Polish politician and lawyer . She was a leading member of the liberal “ Nowoczesna ” party until December 5, 2018 and is still a member of the Sejm .

Career

Until 2007, Kamila Gasiuk-Pihowicz studied law at the Faculty of Law and Administration at the Cardinal Stefan Wyszyński University in Warsaw and economics at the Warsaw School of Economics . During her studies she was a volunteer at the Polish non-governmental organization “ Forum for the Dialogue of Nations ”. After completing her studies, she worked in several law firms until she was finally employed in the office of the Polish Commissioner for Civil Rights .

From 2001 to 2008 Kamila Gasiuk-Pihowicz was a member of the political youth organization “ Young Center ”. Already in the European elections in Poland in 2004 , she unsuccessfully applied for the European Parliament from the electoral list of the liberal party “ Unia Wolności ” (Eng. “Freedom Union”) . Since 2015 she has been a member of the liberal party " Nowoczesna " (Eng. "Modernity"). Since August 18, 2015, she has held the position of press officer within this group . In the parliamentary elections in Poland in 2015 , she was elected to the Sejm of the 8th legislative period on November 25, 2015 with 19,041 votes . She serves on the justice and human rights committees as well as the health sector.

Since January 2018 she has been the leader of her party in the Polish parliament. On December 5, 2018, she left the .Nowoczesna party together with seven other MPs and has been a member and MP of the Civic Platform Coalition since then . From July 2019 she will be a member of the citizens' platform.

Kamila Gasiuk-Pihowicz is married and has two children.
