The Salvia canariensis ( Salvia canariensis ) is a plant of the genus sage ( Salvia ) and belongs to the family of Labiatae (Lamiaceae).

Salvia canariensis

The shrub reaches heights of 100 to 250 centimeters. The leaves are green to thick white felt. Their shape is lanceolate to triangular, they are spear-shaped at the base. The leaf margin is whole to finely notched. The leaves reach a length of about 12 cm. The showy purple bracts are ovate and longer than the obtuse calyx . The crown becomes about 20 mm long and is pink to dark purple, with a sickle-shaped upper lip.

Flowering time is from February to June.

Occurrence

The Canary Sage only grows in the Canary Islands . The species especially prefers the succulent bush and the pine forest region.
