Kanilai Game Park
The Kanilai Game Park is a game reserve (or safari park ) in the West African state of Gambia . It is located about eight kilometers south of South Bank Road in Kanilai near the Sindola Safari Lodge .
The reserve, which has the vegetation of a Guinea savannah , is home to Nile crocodiles , zebras , rhinos , lions , giraffes and other animals. Among the primates are hussar monkeys and the western green monkey .
The game reserve was created on the initiative of President Yahya Jammeh , who grew up near Kanilai and had his residence there. This is one of the reasons why the park was considered the President's private zoo.
