The canton Niedenstein was an administrative unit in the Kassel district of the Fulda department in the Napoleonic Kingdom of Westphalia . The main town of the canton and seat of the justice of the peace was the small town of Niedenstein , the smallest town in terms of population in the entire Kingdom of Westphalia, in today's Schwalm-Eder district . The canton comprised 8 villages and hamlets and a city, was inhabited by 2,936 people and had an area of 1.17 square miles .
