The Beromünster canton school is a public high school in Beromünster in the canton of Lucerne . The school is one of the oldest grammar schools in Switzerland . It goes back to a medieval collegiate school of the Canons of Beromünster , which became a Latin school in the 15th century and a cantonal middle school in 1866.
history
The history of the collegiate school goes back far into the Middle Ages. In the oldest book of the dead dated August 20, 1047 in memory of the founder Ulrich I von Lenzburg, it is noted: "2 schillings for the students for pears". In 1226 the school management was with the documented Scholasticus . From the late 16th century onwards, the school followed the Jesuit curriculum. In 1866, the collegiate school was transformed into a Progymnasium with real classes, the goal of which, according to the educational pioneer Ignaz Paul Vitalis Troxler, was a "holistic higher education". In 1964 the school was detached from the monastery and by 1977 it was expanded to become a full-fledged cantonal maturity school.
type of school
The Beromünster canton school is a long-term high school, the training lasts six years. Entry usually takes place after the 6th grade of primary school . The training ends with the Matura .
