Pulpit in the Church of the Nativity of Mary

The pulpit of the Church of the Birth of Mary in Rottenbuch , a municipality in the Upper Bavarian district of Weilheim-Schongau , was created in 1743.

The Rococo style pulpit was created in 1743 under the provost Clemens Prasser by the sculptor Franz Xaver Schmädl and the Rottenbuch monastery kistler Thomas Pröbstl. The staircase with its openwork railing made of gilded lattice and shell work swings around the pillar in a curve . The back wall is filled in the middle with the monogram of Christ in ray glory and framed by pilasters . These support the sound cover . Lambrequins hang from the cornice and are accompanied by a garland of roses. The evangelists Mark and Matthew sit sideways on the sound cover and in the middle rests the globe, around which an angel flies with a trumpet . The evangelists John and Luke are depicted on the pulpit. The pulpit is crowned by an angel who holds the tablets of the law in his left hand .
