Kaoru Tada ( Japanese 多 田 か お る , Tada Kaoru ; born September 25, 1960 in Neyagawa , Osaka Prefecture , Japan ; † March 11, 1999 ) was a Japanese manga artist .

Tada made her commercial debut in 1977 with the short story Kiss no Daishō !? in the manga magazine Bessatsu Margaret of the Shūeisha publishing house after she had already won a young talent award from the same magazine. From 1981 to 1983 she created the approximately 1300-page manga series Aishite Night for this magazine. Aishite Night , in which a rock musician falls in love with the protagonist, was implemented as an anime television series. The author achieved even greater success with Itazura na Kiss , which started in Bessatsu Margaret in 1990 . The 23 anthologies of the manga sold over 27 million copies in Japan, a real television series based on it was broadcast in 1996, and an anime television series in 2008.

After about 3700 pages and with an open ending, Itazura na Kiss came to an end in 1999 because the draftsman was killed in an accident while moving to another house.

Tada's works are shōjo manga and are love stories from the perspective of teenage girls. Her work has been translated into Italian, and the anime adaptation of Aishite Night was shown on German television under the title Rock 'n' Roll Kids .
