The Cape Allen is a snow-free headland at the Shackleton Coast in the Antarctic Ross Dependency , the northeastern together with about six kilometers Mount Hope a gateway of the Beardmore Glacier on the Ross Ice Shelf is, the so-called Gateway .
The cape was first used by participants of the Nimrod Expedition (1907-1909) under the direction of British polar explorer Ernest Shackleton mapped and by Robert Calder Allen named (1812-1903), the skipper of the Resolute under Horatio Thomas Austin in the Belcher expedition to Search for the missing Franklin expedition .
