The Cape Bird is the northern headland on the by the Mount Bird dominated peninsula in the northwestern part of the Antarctic Ross Island .
The cape was discovered in 1841 during the British Antarctic Expedition (1839–1843) led by James Clark Ross , who named it after Lieutenant Edward Joseph Bird (1798–1881) of the HMS Erebus , one of the two ships of the expedition.
