Cape Chavanne is a striking, partly ice-free headland with a conspicuously dome-shaped spur at the southern end. It is located east of the confluence of the Breitfuß Glacier in Mill Inlet on the Foyn coast of Graham Land on the Antarctic Peninsula .
Aerial photographs of the area were taken during the Ronne Antarctic Research Expedition (1946–1947). At the same time, the Falkland Islands Dependencies Survey carried out a survey and named the cape after the Austrian geographer and polar author Josef Chavanne (1846–1902).
