Hermann Ferdinand von Lütcken (born February 10, 1837 in Stade , † August 25, 1898 in Königstein im Taunus ) was a Prussian infantry general .

Life

origin

He was the son of Ferdinand von Lütcken († 1870) and his wife Lisette, née Wynecken († 1880). His father was a Rittmeister a. D. , most recently in the Hanoverian Hussar Regiment .

Military career

Lütcken attended high school and was then a cadet in Hanover . On April 1, 1856, he joined the 3rd Jäger Battalion of the Hanoverian Army as a porter ensign . In November 1856 Lütcken was with promotion to second lieutenant transferred to the Guards Rifle Battalion and was promoted here in mid-May 1860 to first lieutenant . As such, he graduated from the military academy in Hanover from October 1860 to April 1862 . From December 1863, Lütcken was with the federal execution force in Holstein for one year . During the war against Prussia in 1866 he acted as the personal adjutant of General von dem Knesebeck in the 1st Infantry Brigade and took part in the battle of Langensalza . For this, Lütcken received the Knight's Cross II. Class of the Ernst August Order .

After the lost war and the annexation of the Kingdom of Hanover by Prussia, Lütcken was taken over into the Association of the Prussian Army . He came to the 6th Brandenburg Infantry Regiment No. 52 and became chief of the 9th Company in Spremberg on March 16, 1869 when he was promoted to captain . With his regiment, Lütcken took part in the Battle of Spichern during the war against France in 1870/71 and was wounded by a shot in the left thigh in the Battle of Mars-la-Tour . For his achievements he received the Iron Cross, 2nd class. After the peace treaty , Lütcken was assigned to the General Command of the 1st Army Corps in Königsberg in mid-April 1874 . Left in this command, he was transferred to the 5th Westphalian Infantry Regiment No. 53 on June 15, 1875 and to the 7th Westphalian Infantry Regiment No. 56 on February 3, 1876 . As a major, he was transferred to the 4th Guards Regiment on foot on November 7, 1876, releasing his command at the General Command . In January 1877 he joined the regimental staff and on June 11, 1879 was commander of the 2nd battalion in the Kaiser Alexander Guard Grenadier Regiment No. 1 in Berlin. In this capacity Lütcken became lieutenant colonel on November 15, 1883 . As a colonel , he then commanded the 3rd Guards Grenadier Regiment "Queen Elisabeth" from February 5, 1887 to January 26, 1890 . Subsequently, Lütcken was entrusted with the command of the 3rd Guard Infantry Brigade under position à la suite of the regiment , in order to appoint him on March 24, 1890 as major general commander of this large formation . With his promotion to lieutenant general , Lütcken finally advanced to commander of the 4th division on April 18, 1893 . On May 13, 1897, he was put up for disposal with the statutory pension .

After his departure, he was given the character of General of the Infantry on September 10, 1897 .
