Verzeille ( Occitan : Verzelha ) is a municipality with 493 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017) in southern France in the Aude department . It belongs to the Arrondissement of Carcassonne and the Canton of Carcassonne-2 (until 2015: Canton Saint-Hilaire ). The inhabitants are called Verzeillais .
geography
Verzeille is about ten kilometers south-southwest of the city center of Carcassonne . The Lauquet flows through the municipality . Verzeille is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Leuc in the north, Ladern-sur-Lauquet in the east, Saint-Hilaire in the south, Pomas in the west and south-west and Couffoulens in the west and north-west.
