Belflou is a French commune with 121 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017) in the Aude department in the Occitanie region (before 2016 Languedoc-Roussillon ). It belongs to the Arrondissement of Carcassonne , to the canton of La Piège au Razès (until 2015 Salles-sur-l'Hers ) and to the municipality of Castelnaudary Lauragais Audois . The inhabitants are called Belflonais .
geography
Belflou is located about 40 kilometers west-northwest of Carcassonne in the Lauragais landscape on the border with the neighboring Haute-Garonne department . The Ganguise is dammed here to the Lac de la Ganguise . The neighboring municipalities of Belflou are Gourvieille in the north, Baraigne in the east and north-east, Molleville in the east and south-east, Salles-sur-l'Hers in the south and south-west and Saint-Michel-de-Lanès in the west and north-west.
