Villemoustaussou ( Occitan : Vilamostausson ) is a southern French municipality with 4,423 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017) in the Aude department in the Occitania region . The municipality belongs to the Arrondissement of Carcassonne and the canton of La Vallée de l'Orbiel . The inhabitants are called Villemachois .
geography
Villemoustaussou is located on the Trapel river . The municipality is limited in the south by the Canal du Midi . Villemoustaussou is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Villegailhenc in the north, Conques-sur-Orbiel in the east and northeast, Villalier in the east, Villedubert in the southeast, Carcassonne in the south and Pennautier in the west.
Villemoustaussou is one of the communities that are allowed to market parts of their wine under the Cabardès (AOC) quality label.
