Gaja-la-Selve ( Occitan : Gajan de la Selva ) is a municipality with 143 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017) in the west of the Aude department in the southern French region of Occitania (before 2016: Languedoc-Roussillon ). The municipality belongs to the Arrondissement of Carcassonne and the canton of La Piège au Razès (until 2015: canton Fanjeaux ). The inhabitants are called Gajanais .
location
Gaja-la-Selve is about 32 kilometers west of Carcassonne . The Vixiège limits the municipality to the south. Gaja-la-Selve is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Saint-Amans in the north, Generville in the north and northeast, Cazalrenoux in the east, Ribouisse in the south, Lafage in the south and southwest, Cahuzac in the west, Pech-Luna in the west and northwest and Mayreville in the Northwest.
