Villeneuve-la-Comptal ( Occitan : Vilanòva la Comptal ) is a French commune with 1,305 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017) in the Aude department in the Occitanie region . The municipality belongs to the Arrondissement of Carcassonne and the canton of Le Bassin Chaurien (until 2015: canton of Castelnaudary-Sud ). The inhabitants are called Villeneuvois .

Villeneuve-la-Comptal is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Mas-Saintes-Puelles in the north and north-west, Castelnaudary in the north and east, Fendeille in the east and south-east, Fonters-du-Razès in the south and Payra-sur-l'Hers in the west and Southwest.
