Pexiora ( Occitan : Puègsiuran ) is a municipality with 1,226 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017) in the west of the Aude department in the Occitania region of southern France (before 2016: Languedoc-Roussillon ). The municipality belongs to the Arrondissement of Carcassonne and the canton of La Piège au Razès (until 2015: Canton Castelnaudary-Sud ). The inhabitants are called Pexioranais .

location

Pexiora is about 25 kilometers west-northwest of Carcassonne . The Canal du Midi is located on the northern edge of the municipality . Pexiora is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Saint-Martin-Lalande in the north and north-west, Lasbordes in the north, Villepinte in the east and north-east, Villasavary in the south and Laurabuc in the west and south-west.

The A62 autoroute runs through the municipality .
