Cavanac is a municipality with 923 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017) in southern France in the Aude department . It belongs to the Arrondissement of Carcassonne and the Canton of Carcassonne-2 (until 2015: Canton Carcassonne-1 ). The inhabitants are called Cavanacois .

geography

Cavanac is about five kilometers southwest of the city center of Carcassonne . The Aude flows along the north-western edge of the municipality . Cavanac is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Carcassonne in the north and north-west, Cazilhac in the east and north-east, Palaja in the east, Villefloure in the south-east, Leuc in the south and south-east and Couffoulens in the west and south-west.
