Issel is on the edge of a hilly forest area about five kilometers north of Castelnaudary .

history

Remains of a prehistoric pottery workshop have been found in the area. The history of today's place can be traced back to the 13th century.

Attractions

The fortified place is surrounded by a circular moat. Above the ogival gate machicolations .

The Gothic Church of the Assumption ( Eglise de l'Assomption ) with a Vierge de Pitié from the 16th century was restored in the 19th century.
