Cape Cockburn is a cape in the north of Brabant Island in the Palmer Archipelago off the west coast of the Antarctic Peninsula . It marks the northeastern extension of the Pasteur Peninsula .
The name appears on a map based on the reports of the British polar traveler Henry Foster in the course of his Antarctic expedition, which lasted from 1827 to 1831. It is probably named after the British Admiral George Cockburn (1772-1851). Participants of the Fourth French Antarctic Expedition (1903-1905) under the direction of polar explorer Jean-Baptiste Charcot made a mapping.
