Cape García ( French Cap García ) is a cape on the Graham Coast of West Antarctic Graham Land . It forms the northeastern extension of the Felipe Solo Peninsula and is located on the north side of the entrance to Barilari Bay .
Participants in the Fourth French Antarctic Expedition (1903–1905) under the direction of polar explorer Jean-Baptiste Charcot discovered the cape. He named it Cap Loqui . At the same time, the cape on the south side of the entrance to Barilari Bay was named Cap García after the Argentine Rear Admiral García. Charcot's maps for the Fifth French Antarctic Expedition (1908-1910), however, showed Cap García on the north side of the bay. This designation was retained in the following. For reasons of naming continuity, the name Cape Loqui was transferred to the southern Cape.
