Cape Loqui ( French Cap Loqui ; in the English- speaking area Loqui Point ) is a cape on the Graham Coast of Graham Land on the Antarctic Peninsula . In the north of the Velingrad Peninsula , it is on the south side of the entrance from the Grandidier Canal into the Barilari Bay .
Participants in the Fourth French Antarctic Expedition (1903–1905) under the direction of polar explorer Jean-Baptiste Charcot discovered the cape. He named it Cap García . At the same time, the cape on the north side of the entrance to Barilari Bay was named Cap Loqui after the Argentine frigate captain Esteban de Loqui. In contrast, Charcot's maps showed during the Fifth French Antarctic Expedition (1908-1910) Cap García on the north side of the bay. This designation was retained in the following. For reasons of naming continuity, the original name of the northern cape was transferred to the southern one.
