The Cape Johnson is an icy cape at the Borchgrevink Coast of the East Antarctic Victoria Land . It lies on the east side of the confluence of the Tinker Glacier in Wood Bay , the northern limit of which is the cape. Kay Island lies 3 km east-south-east of the cape .
The British polar explorer James Clark Ross discovered it in 1841 during his Antarctic expedition (1839–1843). Ross named the cape after Captain Edward John Johnson (1794-1853) of the Royal Navy , a member of the Magnetic Compass Committee .
