The Cape Oakeley is a massive headland at the Pennell Coast of the East Antarctic Victoria Land . The cape marks the southern limit of the entrance to Smith Inlet on the northeast flank of Quam Heights .
It was discovered in 1841 by the British polar explorer James Clark Ross during his Antarctic expedition (1839–1843). Ross named the cape after Henry Oakeley (1816–1877), mate on the expedition ship HMS Erebus .
