Cape Sedow ( Russian Мыс Седова Mys Sedowa ) is an ice cap off the Princess Astrid coast of the East Antarctic Queen Maud Land . It forms the northwestern extension of the Lazarev Ice Shelf .
Participants in the German Antarctic Expedition in 1938/39 under the direction of Alfred Ritscher took the first aerial photographs and carried out mapping. Scientists on a Soviet Antarctic expedition mapped the cape again in 1959 and named it after the Russian polar explorer Georgi Jakowlewitsch Sedov (1877–1914).
