The St. Georg chapel in Winnberg is located in the municipality of Sengenthal and is a branch church of the parish of St. Nikolaus Reichertshofen .

All that is known about the chapel , which was mentioned in an inventory of the Neumarkter Stadtschultheissen in 1559 and which was consecrated to St. George , is that it was destroyed by a shower in 1746. In the same year it was rebuilt in the dimensions 4 × 5 m (nave). In 1747 she was granted a measuring license and in 1750 a new George altar. The ceiling paintings were made in 1872 by the painter Sperber from Velburg .

In 1937 there were two bells in the turret, one from 1669 and one from 1811.

Mid-20th century there was a Umpfarrung of Winnberg from the parish of St. Willibald to Deining in the filial community Sengenthal . Due to the newly built church in Sengenthal, the demolition of the ailing baroque church was proposed in 1969. However, this was rejected for reasons of monument protection. In 1972 the little church was completely renovated. In the church there is also a very valuable way of the cross from the 18th century.

In 1937, 68 Catholics and six Protestants lived in Winnberg.

In the past, Holy Mass was celebrated in the chapel on the Sunday after St. George and every 14 days. Today there is a mass celebration once a month.
