Chapels in Dreßlen-Vorholz

In the Dreßlen-Vorholz district of the municipality of Alberschwende in the Bregenz Forest in the state of Vorarlberg , two chapels are only very close to each other: the Fátima chapel and the Marienkapelle . Both chapels are under monument protection.

Fátima Chapel

During the Second World War, the parishioners of Alberschwende vowed to build a chapel if they and the congregation should survive the war as safely as possible. As this happened, they also fulfilled their vow and built a very simple chapel on one of the most impressive viewpoints in the Vorholz parcel. The chapel was consecrated after completion in 1953. She is subject to the protection of Our Lady of Fátima . The chapel is a very simple rectangular building with a round apse made of natural stone. It has a half-hip roof and the north tower a conical roof . On the south facade there is an arched portal and two arched windows . It has a rose window on the west facade .

The interior is open to the wooden roof structure. The crucifix on the altar and the Fátima Madonna on the left nave wall are by Jakob Summer from 1983.

Lady Chapel

The chapel is dedicated to the Mother of God Maria and was built in 1925 as a rectangular building. Under the gable roof with a bell tower above the entrance facade, it has a flat 3/8 choir. The chapel has a drawn-in flat ceiling. In the choir spandrels there are images of the Heart of Jesus and the Heart of Mary. The chapel has a neo-Romanesque altar structure. The left side altar is St. Anna , the right one to St. Joseph .
