Kapelluddens fyr is a lighthouse on the east coast of the Swedish Baltic island of Öland .
The red tower on the Kapelludden headland with the international registration number C 7270 has a height of 31.8 meters. The beacon is located at a height of 29.7 meters. The range of the white beacon is 12 nautical miles .
The tower was built in 1872 as an iron framework construction based on plans by Albert Theodor Gellerstedt . Before the lighthouse was erected, the sailors used the ruins of the St. Birgitta Chapel and a historic stone cross further south to orient themselves during the day .
