Kaponigtal

The Kaponigtal is a valley in the municipality of Obervellach in Carinthia and is one of the side valleys in the upper Mölltal in the Reisseck group . The Kaponigbach , a tributary of the Möll, flows in the bottom of the valley .

The Kaponigtal has been part of the Hohe Tauern National Park since 2005 .

It is framed by several peaks of this mountain group: Pfaffenberger Nocken (2773 m), Kaponigtörl (2692 m), Tristenspitz (2930 m), Kesseleck (2759 m) and Kleine Gößspitze - Ebeneck 2858 m and the Zagutnig (2731 m).

The farms of the mountain farmers are at an altitude of around 1300  m above sea level. A.

The Kaponigtal offers hiking opportunities right through the alpine pasture area with refreshment stops in the managed huts. The bird life corresponds to the subalpine altitude level. You can see black siskin , dunnock , willow tit , wren , chaffinch , pine jay , black grouse , gray wagtail and kestrel . Also, marmots , foxes , chamois and deer have their habitat.

Moosboden, Kaponigtal

A hike from the national park parking lot leads along the forest road over the Kaponigbach and then on the road further into the valley to Moosboden at 1949  m above sea level. A. a moor surrounded by steep rocks , which was probably created by the silting up of a lake. It is located near the tree line in the protected area of ​​the Hohe Tauern National Park. The hiking trail leads along mountain streams and past many rockfalls that extend from side ditches to the valley floor. A sparse larch-stone pine forest characterizes the valley head of the Kaponigtal. Those who want to go higher can continue the tour as far as the Seeschartel and cross into the neighboring Dösental.
