The Reisseckgruppe is a mountain range in Carinthia . As the southern part of the Ankogel group , it is counted among the Hohe Tauern . In the north, the Reisseck group is bounded by the Dösner Valley and the Gößgraben. The eastern border is formed by the Malta- and Liesertal , the southern border by the Mölltal . The Reisseck group is mainly composed of gneiss .
The highest mountain in the mountain range is 2965 m above sea level. A. high Reißeck . Other important peaks are the Tristenspitz ( 2930 m ), the Hohe Leier ( 2774 m ) and the Gmeineck ( 2592 m ).
In the Reisseckgruppe there are many mountain lakes, of which the Radlsee (Hoher See), the Hochalmsee (Spapnik-See), and the Zwenberger and Mühldorf lakes are the most important. The water is used energetically by the Reißeck-Kreuzeck power plant group .
In terms of tourism, the mountains were opened up by the Reißeckbahn (until 2016) and the Reißeck-Höhenbahn (until 2014). Skiing was also stopped.
The Kaponigtal, which belongs to the Reisseck group, has been part of the Hohe Tauern National Park since 2005 .
