Karad is a city in the Satara district of western India .

Karad is located in the Satara district at an altitude of 576  m . The mountain range of the Western Ghats runs 20 km west of the city. The district capital Satara is 50 km north of Karad. Karad lies at the confluence of the Koyna with the Krishna . At the 2011 census, Karad had 53,879 inhabitants. The national highway NH 4 (Satara - Kolhapur ) runs through Karad.
