Karan Faridoon Bilimoria, Baron Bilimoria CBE (born November 26, 1961 in Hyderabad , India ) is a British entrepreneur and life peer who is best known as the founder and CEO of Cobra Beer .

life and career

Bilimoria was born in Hyderabad, India, into a Parsees family. He studied at Osmania University , which graduated in 1981 with a Bachelor of Commerce . Subsequently, he worked for Ernst & Young before he Jurisprudence at Sidney Sussex College of the University of Cambridge studied and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts finished.

He founded Cobra Beer in 1989, with the aim of creating a lager beer that, by its taste, is more suitable for consumption with curry and other dishes. Because of his economic merits, he was named Commander of the British Empire in 2004.

Bilimoria is the Vice President of the London Chamber of Commerce and Industry and has held the post of Deputy Lieutenant (DL) in the London Borough of Hounslow. He was appointed to the British Board of Directors of the Indo British Partnership (IBP) in 2003 and is one of the founders of the India British Council (UKIBC). In 2005 he became the youngest Chancellor of Thames Valley University .

Bilimoria was named Life Peer on June 16, 2006 as Baron Bilimoria , of Chelsea in the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea . He was the first Parse in the House of Lords and is a crossbencher there . In 2008 the Indian President awarded him the Pravasi Bharatiya Samman .
