The Cardam Buttress (English; Bulgarian Кардамов рид Kardamow rid ) is a rising mountain ridge on Livingston Island in the archipelago of the South Shetland Islands . It extends from St. Ivan Rilski Col over a length of 1 km northwards into the Huron Glacier . It rises 1.3 km east of Komini Peak , 1 km west of Plana Peak and 0.7 km south of the Nestinari Nunatakker . Its striking western slopes are partly not icy.
Bulgarian scientists mapped it while surveying the Tangra Mountains between 2004 and 2005. The Bulgarian Commission for Antarctic Geographical Names named it in 2005 after the Bulgarian khan Kardam , who ruled from 777 to 803.
