Karel Černý (production designer)
Karel Černý (born April 7, 1922 in Plzeň ; † September 5, 2014 in Tábor ) was a Czech art director and set designer who won an Oscar in 1985 for best production design .
Life
Černý began his work as an art director and set designer in the film industry in 1951 for films such as Veselý souboj and Štika v rybníce and was involved in the production of over fifty films until 1989.
At the 1985 Academy Awards, he and Patrizia von Brandenstein won the Oscar for the best production design in Amadeus (1984) by Miloš Forman .
