Karel Kolský

Karel Kolský (born September 21, 1914 in Kročehlavy , Austria-Hungary , † February 17, 1984 ) was a Czechoslovak football player and football coach .

Player career

Karel Kolský started playing football at SK Kročehlavy . The defender played for SK Kladno from 1935 to 1937 and for Sparta Prague from 1937 to 1948 . From 1948 to 1951 he was in the team of Sparta Úpice , in the last season he was game coach .

With Sparta, Kolský became champions in 38/39, 1946 and 1948.

Between 1937 and 1948 Kolský came to only 15 internationals due to the war.

Coaching career

In 1951 Kolský took over the army club ATK Prague (from 1956 Dukla Prague) with which he became Czechoslovakian champion in 1953, 1956 and 1958. In 1960 he went to Sparta Prague, in 1963 to Poland to Wisła Krakow . Kolský FC Zbrojovka Brno trained from 1965 to 1967, and LIAZ Jablonec from 1967 to 1969 . In the 1969/70 season he sat in the coaching bench at Škoda Pilsen . In 1970 he took over the coaching position at Sparta Prague again, but went to SONP Kladno after only two years . From 1976 to 1978 he was responsible for the team at RH Cheb .

Kolský led the Czechoslovak national team twice. First in 1956 together with Antonín Rýgr , then in 1958 as sole responsible for the World Cup in Sweden . After the World Cup he was Czechoslovak national coach with Rudolf Vytlačil for a short time .
