Karel Vítězslav Mašek
Karel Vítězslav Mašek (born September 1, 1865 in Prague ; † July 24, 1927 there ) was a Czech painter, illustrator and architect of Art Nouveau and Symbolism .
Life
Mašek studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Prague and switched to the Academy of Fine Arts in Munich in 1884 . In 1887 he went with his colleagues Alfons Mucha and František Dvořák to the Académie Julian in Paris , where he took lessons from Gustave Boulanger and Jules Lefebvre . In 1888 he returned to Prague. In 1898 he began teaching at the Prague School of Applied Arts . Josef Čapek and Bohumil Waigant were among his students .
