Karel Vaněk (born January 28, 1866 in Černý Kostelec , Austria-Hungary ; died February 23, 1924 in Brno ) was a social democratic Czechoslovak politician.

Life

Karel Vaněk joined the Czech Social Democratic Party in 1901 and attended the Dělnická academy (Workers' Academy ) in Prague until 1904 . In 1906 he was elected to the Moravian Parliament . In the Reichsrat election in 1911 , he was a member of the Austrian Reichsrat and remained so until the end of the Austro-Hungarian monarchy.

From November 1918 he was a member of the Revolutionary National Assembly of the Czechoslovak Republic . After the State Commissioner Petr Ehrenfeld (1866–1944) he was Mayor of Brno from April 10 to December 10, 1920 .

Vaněk is buried in the Ústřední hřbitov central cemetery in Brno .
