The Tm 235 is a former two-axle construction tractor of the Swiss Federal Railways (SBB) of the Robel Bamowag 54.22 type for maintenance work on the track. Bamowag stands for rail motor vehicles. The vehicle corresponds to the German Rottenkraftwagen type Klv (small vehicle with internal combustion engine) and is a further development of the DB Klv 53, which was procured from Robel by the Deutsche Bundesbahn in over 800 vehicles until 1981 .

technology

The main engine develops an output of 368 kW, the maximum speed is 80 km / h, towed 100 km / h, so that they do not hinder the regular operation of overpasses. The motor drives both axles via a hydrostatic transmission. A hydraulic loading crane with a maximum lifting capacity of 8 tons is available on the loading area. The factory type designation 54.22 is used for a product range of track vehicles, which about ten years later in a modernized and more powerful form with air-conditioned driver's cab again in larger series, for example to Swiss private railways such as the Bern-Lötschberg-Simplon-Bahn (BLS), to the ÖBB and went to Deutsche Bahn .

commitment

All vehicles of the construction tractor "Robel" delivered to the Swiss Federal Railways, which were procured via a leasing procedure, had been employed by SBB Infrastructure since 1999 and until recently. The reduction in freight traffic that was also associated with the division of SBB in 1999 made many construction tractors superfluous. Construction services only require vehicles that are suitable as towing vehicles for train journeys at 80–100 kilometers per hour and that can take several loaded wagons with them. The less powerful vehicles, which were usually assigned to the individual building blocks or train stations, were almost all scrapped after 1999. That is why this series was decommissioned from 2002 to 2007. At the SBB, the Tm 235 remained a splinter type, and the customer was not involved in the design, which resulted in a number of inadequacies. For subsequent procurement, the choice fell on the SBB Tm 234 construction service tractor .

Tm 235 001 came to the Panlok company in Emmenbrücke , which handles the factory traffic for the local steelworks. It is still in use there today.

The type was built in 1991 and 1992 by Robel Bahnbaumaschinen from Freilassing in a total of 15 units for SBB and classified as Tm 235 000 to Tm 235 014 according to the new type designation introduced in 1988 and revised at the time of delivery . In the revised version, this series number (third and fourth digits) was assigned to the private BLS, but the Tm 235 000-014 retained their original numbers until they were retired. An almost identical vehicle was delivered to the German AKN in Kaltenkirchen in 1993, where it was designated as Klv 2, but had a more modern two-sided steel tipping bridge as its structure.
