SBB Tm 234
The Tm 234 ("Ant") is a two-axle construction tractor of the Swiss Federal Railways (SBB) and some private railways. It was manufactured from 1997 by the consortium Stadler Rail / Bombardier Transportation / Winpro / ADtranz . The last series was built by Stadler Winterthur AG (formerly Winpro AG ) and delivered in 2007. In total, a prototype and 132 series vehicles were built. In the meantime, all vehicles, regardless of the owner, bear the designation Tm 234.
technology
The main engine (12 cylinder MTU ) develops an output of 550 kW, which it delivers to four traction motors via a hydrostatic system . He has a loading crane ( Palfinger PK9001) to work on the railway systems . The maximum starting tractive effort is 81 kN. The tractor can be maneuvered using a radio remote control ("working mode"). There are three different modes of operation: route operation (maximum speed 80 km / h); Working mode (approx. 27 km / h); Crane operation (approx. 5 km / h). The maximum load of material on the dock leveler is 7 tons. An emergency power group with an output of 15 kW is installed for support and lighting. The Tm was 234 012 as a prototype with a high work platform equipped (maximum ejection 18 meters).
screw compressor with a delivery rate of 800 l / min at a maximum pressure of 10 bar. The tractors are equipped with the Integra-Signum train protection system as standard and all are retrofitted with Euro-Signum . However, individual copies were converted to ZUB 262ct (with ETM) or ETCS .
All tractors are equipped with aSince 2003, SBB has continuously equipped the entire fleet with diesel soot particle filters . This upgrade should be completed by 2007.
Deliveries
The tractors have been built in several production batches since 1997 and have been delivered since 1999: the first series of 50 vehicles (234 000-012 and 050-086) was ordered in 1997, the second series (also 50 vehicles, 234 100-149) in Year 2000. On December 19, 2005, SBB ordered a third series of the Tm 234, for a further 25 Tm (234 200-224) for a total price of 39 million CHF . They were built under license by Stadler Winterthur AG (formerly Winpro AG) and delivered by the end of November 2007.
The Mittelthurgaubahn procured two identical tractors (236 648-649, 2000) for the maintenance of the lake line taken over by SBB , which were sold to TPF (Tm 237 087, new 98 85 5 234 087-5) and SBB (Tm 234 090) were sold. The regional Mittelland (RM) has ordered by SBB five of the same type tractors, which were delivered in 2004 and since the merger in BLS backlog are (Tm 236380-384, new 98 85 5234380-384).
The prototype, still built in 1995 by RACO (Robert Aebi & Cie) under the (very last) factory number 2026, served SLM and then Winpro as a demonstration and rental vehicle. In 2005 it was finally sold to Transports de Martigny et Régions (TMR), where it was given the number Tm 237 554-1 and in 2015 the TSI number 98 85 5 234 354-9.
