TPF bus station in Freiburg

The Freiburgische Verkehrsbetriebe AG , French Transports publics fribourgeois SA ( TPF ), are the public transport companies of the bilingual canton of Friborg in Switzerland . They were created retroactively as of January 1, 2000 through the merger of Chemins de fer fribourgeois Gruyère-Friborg-Morat (GFM) with the Freiburg transport company, known as Transports en commun de Friborg SA (TF) in French . They operate standard-gauge railway lines, narrow-gauge railway lines, trolleybus lines, bus lines and a funicular railway in the city of Friborg and in the canton of Friborg and neighboring areas.

According to the merger agreement of July 10, 2000, GFM took over TF with assets and liabilities against the issue of new shares to the previous shareholders of TF. In the course of this so-called absorption merger, GFM gave itself the new name Transports publics fribourgeois SA / Freiburgische Verkehrsbetriebe AG.

The TF was founded on January 12, 1897 as Société des tramways de Friborg and was the operating company of the Freiburg tramway in Üechtland, which opened on July 27 of the same year . In 1927 a joint management with the FMA and CEG, which later merged to form the GFM, was set up. The route network was expanded until 1936, but in 1949 the first trolleybus line was opened and in 1951 the conversion from tram to trolleybus and bus began. The last tram ran in 1965 and the company became the Société des transports en commun de Friborg et environs . It was not until 1966 that the company opened its own bus company, before that the GFM was commissioned. In 1970 TF was entrusted with the operation of the Neuveville – Saint-Pierre funicular in the city of Friborg and with a merger agreement dated December 23, 1977, the Société du Funiculaire Neuveville-St-Pierre, à Friborg SA was integrated into TF.

At the end of 2006, the Freiburg transport company initiated the new Frimobil tariff association .

Standard gauge rolling stock

As part of the procurement of EAV railcars in the 1960s, GFM participated in the collective order with one railcar (171), three control cars (301-303) and two intermediate cars (361-362). In 1972 a control car 303 was sold to the Mittelthurgau Railway (MThB) and replaced by an aluminum box standard car I of the SBB (ex 720 'or ex 8201), which was classified as number 363.

When the private railway NPZ was developed at the end of the 1970s , the GFM at that time decided to sell the EAV multiple unit 171 and another control car (302) to MThB in favor of a more uniform fleet. In 1983 two railcars (171–172) and a control car (371) arrived; the remaining EAV control car 301 was converted to control the NPZ, and it was re-classified as number 372. Two new intermediate cars (364–365) arrived in 1984, and a further control car (373) finally arrived in 1985.

A replacement for the private railway NPZ was delivered in 1991; the two railcars (181–182) received only one driver's cab this time and can therefore no longer run individually. Two control cars (381–382) were also delivered; these are compatible with each other. In 1992/1993, the neighboring Régional du Val-de-Travers (RVT) were able to take over their NPZ railcars 104 and the adapted EAV control car 203, which were classified as numbers 173 and 374.

After the RVT became Transports Régionaux Neuchâtelois (TRN) in 1999 , and from 2002 acquired two «Nina» multiple units, the older rolling stock could be rented if required; TPF decided to modernize the NPZ for the time being and therefore rented the NPZ railcar 106 (new 316) from 1991 and NPZ control car ABt 204 from 1985 as a reserve from the TRN on a long-term basis. These have also been modernized and given the TPF paintwork; With the delivery of the Flirt, the NPZ set was returned to the TRN in 2013.

Trolleybus and bus operation

The line network is divided into a regional network, a city network in Freiburg and a city network in Bulle:

Regional network

The regional network comprises five sub-areas:

Line no. Surname region
100-199 Northeast Sense district (without Bösingen , Wünnewil-Flamatt and Ueberstorf ), Bourguillon , Marly and Schwarzenburg
200-299 Southeast Marly , Ependes , Treyvaux , Le Mouret and the eastern part of the Gruyère district
300-399 center southeast part of the Saane district ( Matran , Avry , Lentigny , to Vuisternens-en-Ogoz ) and the route to Bulle
400-499 southwest Glane district , Vivisbach district and the western part of the Gruyère district (including Bulle , Vevey )
500-599 northwest Broye district , lake district and north-eastern part of the Saane district ( Chésopelloz , Osses, Givisiez , Belfaux etc.)

The line numbers are also in the national timetable can be found in the region 20, for example, the line 120 appears as a roadmap field 20120.

Freiburg city network

Network map Freiburg

The city network includes three trolleybus routes, seven bus routes and a funicular ( water ballast train ). In addition to the city of Friborg, the agglomerations of Villars-sur-Glâne , Marly , Granges-Paccot (Agy, Portes-de-Friborg), Givisiez (Mont-Carmel, La Faye), Matran , Rosé , Corminboeuf and Chésopelloz are served by city buses. On line 1, only duo buses can be used, which run electrically in the city center and on the non-electrified outer branches in diesel mode.

2 Trolleybus Les Dailles - Schoenberg
3 Trolleybus Jura - Pérolles

City network bull

After the city of Bulle and some neighboring municipalities began planning a local transport network in 2006, urban lines 1 and 2 of the city network called “mobul” went into operation in 2009. Line 1 runs in a north-south axis from Riaz to La Tour, line 2 in an east-west axis from Morlon to Vuadens; both thus form diameter lines . A third line went into operation in 2012, which connects the train station with the Planchy industrial zone and is mainly served at rush hour.

No. Means of transport route
1 Bus La Tour-de-Trême - Riaz
2 Bus Morlon - Vuadens
3 Bus Gare - planchy

incident

  • On November 13, 2019, more than 45,000 liters of diesel flowed from the company premises in Givisiez into the sewer system. A part flowed into the Sonnaz (river) and into the Tiguelet.
