The Koblenz Depot and Rail Vehicle Association (DSF) is an association under private law in Koblenz (CH). The association is actively involved in the maintenance and operation of nostalgic rail vehicles and the Koblenz locomotive depot.

history

The history of the Verein Depot und Eisenbahnfahrzeuge Koblenz association began in 1995. Employees of the Swiss Federal Railways ( SBB) took over two draisines in order to save them from being scrapped. The vehicles were used on various occasions and aroused further interest. In 1996 the interest company “IG Draisinen Sammlung Fricktal” was founded. More vehicles were added to the collection on an ongoing basis.

In January 2006 the association Draisinen Sammlung Fricktal was founded. Shortly afterwards, the Koblenz locomotive depot was taken over as the new club location. Since the association is increasingly also devoting itself to mainline vehicles, it was decided at the general assembly in 2013 to change the association's name. The former "Draisinen Sammlung Fricktal" is now called the "Depot and Rail Vehicle Association Koblenz" - or "Depot and Rail Vehicles" for short. The well-known abbreviation "DSF" is retained.

Locations

From 1995 to 2002 the collection was housed in the goods shed at Eiken station , from 2002 to 2010 on the site of the former KERA works in Laufenburg and since 2005 also in the Koblenz locomotive depot . The depot has been the main location of the association since the end of 2010.

The Koblenz engine shed was built in 1859, rebuilt and expanded several times. In 2005, the depot, which was badly damaged by storm “Lothar” (1999), was supposed to be demolished. At the very last moment, the SBB's monument preservation department prevented the demolition. The Koblenz Depot and Rail Vehicle Association subsequently took over the building and repaired it with a lot of hard labor. It houses the stand for the two restored railcars, a draisine exhibition, a gallery for entertaining around 80 guests, a lounge and a Vehicle restoration workshop. In 2007 the locomotive depot was awarded the Aargauer Heimatschutzpreis.

vehicles

In addition to all sorts of draisines , the club also owns a number of railcars.

BDe 4/4 2 ex WM

In 2005, the BDe 4/4 556 042 was taken over by the Südostbahn . This railcar was delivered to the Wohlen-Meisterschwanden-Bahn in 1966 as part of the EAV railcar series . After they ceased operations, he came to the Südostbahn. Now he is back in his original colors and with the appropriate lettering. The railcar is used for special trips and can be rented.

RBe 4/4 1405 ex SBB

The SBB RBe 4/4 1405 was purchased in 2007 as a reserve railcar for the BDe 4/4 2 . It is the last surviving example of the six prototypes and was built in 1959. In the meantime, a complete composition for this railcar, consisting of A, B and DZt of the standard car I type, is available.

RBe 540 074 ex OeBB ex SBB

Even after it was taken over by DSF in December 2015, the railcar mainly serves as a reserve locomotive for freight transport at OeBB . He will initially remain in Balsthal . The DSF uses it for sporadic missions on special occasions. Since SBB Historic has two more modernized RBe 540s for operation without a conductor, this railcar is not kept as a historic vehicle.

BDe 4/4 80 ex SOB

The BDe 4/4 80 was purchased as a transfer vehicle in 2010. It was built in 1959 as ABe 4/4 71 for the Südostbahn and was the first example of the high-performance multiple unit series. The railcar is used for business trips and transfers. In 2011 he was christened "Koblenz".

The ABt 12 ex SOB is used to reinforce the two BDes.

BDe 4/4 176 ex TPF ex MthB

Although intended as a spare parts donor for the BDe 4/4 2 taken over from the World Cup, the BDe 4/4 176 multiple unit, which also comes from the EAV multiple unit series, is initially used as an active vehicle for transfers due to its good condition. It was in 1965 as ABDe 4/4 11 for the Mittelthurgaubahn built and came to their liquidation on Thurbo for TPF . It was last used there as the Xe 4/4 176 service multiple unit after a conversion from 2011. In 2019 he was taken over by DSF.

RBDe 317 ex TRN

The TRN RBDe 567 184 (RBDe 317), which had not been used for a long time, was taken over by the TRN together with the intermediate cars B 305 and 306 and the control car ABt 205 and transferred from Fleurier to Koblenz on September 8, 2018.
