Karen Pryor
Karen Pryor (born May 14, 1932 in New York ) is an American animal trainer who is particularly known as a dog trainer . It made clicker training popular.
Karen Pryor studied zoology and behavioral biology at Cornell University , University of Hawaii , New York University, and Rutgers University . In the 1960s she worked with dolphins at the Hawaii Sea Life Park , which is where clicker training came about. She co-founded the Hawaii Sea Life Park and the Oceanic Institute .
She is the author of several books and the owner of Karen Pryors Clicker Training and Sunshine Books , which publish literature and videos on clicker training.
Karen Pryor now lives in Boston .
In 2019, together with Theresa McKeon, she was awarded the Ig Nobel Prize for medical education (for the use of clicker training in the training of surgeons).
