Karen Arajewitsch Swassjan
Karen Swassjan ( Russian Карен Араевич Свасьян , scientific. Transliteration : Karen Araevič Svas'jan , . Poor Կարեն Սվասյան ) (* 2. January 1948 in Tbilisi ) is a of Armenian philosopher , literary scholar , cultural historian and anthroposophist .
life and work
Karen Swassjan studied philosophy as well as English and French philology in Yerevan and did her doctorate with a thesis on Bergson . In 1981 he received his habilitation on The Problem of the Symbol in Modern Philosophy . He was a professor of philosophy, cultural history and aesthetics at the Yerevan State University . In addition, he worked as a translator into Russian and editor of works by Nietzsche (the first post-revolutionary Russian edition of Nietzsche), Spenglers ( The Fall of the West ) and Rilkes ( The Sonnets to Orpheus ).
He is the author of numerous books on philosophy and anthroposophy, literature, the history of culture and science, including a biography of Goethe that is widespread in Russian-speaking countries , a history of European science and the work of Goethe's philosophical worldview, as well as books on Nietzsche, Spengler, Husserl and Cassirer . There are also numerous German-language publications, especially on anthroposophical topics.
Karen Swassjan was a research award winner from the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation in Bonn in 1993/94 . In 1997 he was visiting professor at the University of Innsbruck . Since 1993 he has lived as a freelance writer and lecturer in Basel .
