Kari Juhani Laitinen (born April 9, 1964 in Vantaa ) is a former Finnish ice hockey player .

Career

Kari Laitinen began his career as a hockey player at Jokerit Helsinki , for whose professional team he was active from 1985 to 1987 in the SM-liiga , the highest Finnish division. The winger then played for their league rivals HIFK Helsinki for six years . In the 1987/88 season he was elected to the All-Star Team of the SM-liiga. He spent the 1993/94 season at Jokipojat in the second class I-divisioona . He then ran for a year each for ASG Angers and the Chamonix Hockey Club in the French Elite Ligue . Most recently he was on the ice for Pelicans Lahti in the I-divisioona from 1996 to 1998 , before ending his career at the age of 34.

International

For Finland Laitinen took part in the 1988 Winter Olympics in Calgary , where he won the silver medal with his team. He contributed to this success with three goals and two assists in seven games.
