Political career

From 1997 to 2000 Fritz was city representative of the Bludenz Open List and chairwoman of the examination board in Bludenz. She was elected city councilor for youth in 2000 and from 2001 also took over the environmental department. She was also a board member at Jugend am Werk. After the SPÖ and ÖVP reduced the number of city councilors after the municipal elections in 2005, Fritz lost her office as city councilor and was then active again as a member of the city council . After the municipal council election in 2015 , the Bludenz Open List agreed with the ÖVP in 2016 on a coalition in the Bludenz city council. As a result, Karin Fritz became city councilor again and was assigned responsibility for childcare, kindergartens and education. In November 2018, Karin Fritz finally withdrew from Bludenz city politics in order to be able to concentrate better on her teaching duties at the BG Bludenz.

She has also represented the Greens in the Vorarlberg state parliament since October 5, 2004 and, as a member of parliament, was the spokesperson for the Green parliamentary group for waste management, sewage, integration, culture, education and youth. In the state elections in 2009 , Fritz came fourth on the state list of the Greens and third in the Bludenz constituency . However, after Vahide Aydın had achieved a surprisingly high number of preferential votes, this was first ranked. As a result, Fritz lost her mandate in the state parliament and announced that he would in future fully devote himself to her work as an AHS teacher.
