Karin Schmidt (politician, 1955)

Karin Schmidt (born November 8, 1955 in Hoyerswerda ) is a German politician ( PDS , Die Linke ).

Schmidt attended the Polytechnic High School in Bautzen and Kamenz and passed her Abitur in 1974. She studied for the post of diploma teacher at the Martin Luther University in Halle (Saale) . From 1978 on she worked as a certified teacher at various school locations, from 1984 in Laage , where she became a high school teacher in 1993.

In 1998, Schmidt became the deputy state chairwoman of the PDS Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania and a member of the Rostock district association . She is a member of the Güstrow / Rostock district council and was its president from 1994 to 2004. In 2001 Schmidt moved to the state parliament of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania, to which she belonged until 2006. In the state elections in 2006, 2011 and 2016 she performed unsuccessfully for the direct mandate in constituency Güstrow I to.

Schmidt is non-denominational, divorced and the mother of three children.
