Karin Weber (politician)

Karin Weber (born May 31, 1953 in Golßen ) is a German politician ( Die Linke ). From February to October 2014 she was a member of the Brandenburg State Parliament , to which she was a member from 2004 to 2009.

Life

From 1969 to 1972 she completed her training as a home educator with a qualification to teach sport and handicrafts at the Institute for Teacher Training "Edwin Hoernle" in Radebeul and then worked until 1977 as a home educator. She then worked as a teacher until 2004 and continued to qualify during this time. In 1983 she started studying to become a qualified educator for intellectually impaired children at the Humboldt University in Berlin and graduated in 1987. After the peaceful revolution , from 1994 to 1997 she acquired the qualification to teach political education at the Institute for Further Education in Potsdam . Finally, from 1997 to 2000, she studied pedagogy for the language handicapped at the University of Potsdam .

Karin Weber is married and has two children.

Weber joined the SED in the early 1980s and had been a member of the PDS since 1989 , then a member of the Die Linke party. From 1996 to 2004 she was district chairwoman of the PDS Dahme-Spreewald . Since 1999 she has been a member of the Dahme-Spreewald district council.

In the state elections in 2004 , she was directly elected to the Brandenburg state parliament for the 4th electoral term in the Dahme-Spreewald III state constituency. She acted as the spokesperson for asylum, refugee and development policy in her group. She was also a member of the Petitions Committee and the Legal Committee . In 2009 she ran again as an applicant for a direct mandate, but was subject to Sylvia Lehmann (SPD) and thus left the state parliament at the end of the legislative period. On February 1, 2014, she replaced Christian Görke who had left the state parliament. After the state elections in Brandenburg in 2014 , she left the state parliament.
